- Art Crimes: The Writing on the Wall
- Welcome to Art Crimes, a gallery of graffiti art from cities around the world. This project was started with a handful of photos
from Atlanta and Prague by Susan Farrell in May 1994 and the site went public that September. Susan hooked up with
photographer Brett Webb in September 1994, and he has since been essential to its success.
Art Crimes has won many awards for excellence, including Cool Site of the Day (1994) and top-10 nominee for Best of the
Web (1995). This site has also been featured in Flashbacks, Twelve Ounce Prophet, Blitzkreig, Scientific American,
Newsweek, Wired, Village Voice, Discovery Channel, Radio France, ZDTV's Internet Tonight, New York Times, USA
Today, and many other fine publications.
As of April 1999 Art Crimes has more than 3000 images from 205 cities, 43 countries and 6 continents. Art Crimes was the
first graffiti site on the net, and we're still the biggest, although many other interesting and useful sites have since sprung
up. Here is a list of the ones we think are the best.

- Lore of long ago tells of a golden age when
humans and animals were one with nature.
Without warning a horrible catastrophe
separated human's intellect from the
animal's instinct. For eons the order of the
universe turned to chaos.
But legend also speaks of a time when the
great chasm that divides us will close.
A future where man and beast become one...

- Mike Markowski's Anime Page
- So You Wonder...
...just what is anime? In short, it's animated artwork. The word itself is the English transliteration of the Japanese truncated
transliteration of the English word animation. Got that? Unlike cartoons from the US and many other countries, anime is not
geared for any age group or audience in particular. Different anime target different viewing audiences.

- Beholder Graphics
- Originally, when we saw how the web was moving into the public's grasp, I
was in Thailand. Peat suggested I come back to do a web project - we were
going to put Book of Pages onto the net (its structure lends itself to a
hypertext format), and The Concuspidor was going to run alongside it. This
didn't happen because the destiny of Book of Pages lay on paper, as we had
always intended. For a while, the Concuspidor took over our web presence
(which was OK because he does like to be the centre of attention). Now
Planetarium is the centrepiece, which is as it should be because (after
Book of Pages), Planetarium represents the most work. Unfotunately,
Six Beasties is in limbo for the time being because more real-worldly
pressures are currently sapping our powers.

Regardless of thier beingly quite smoothly intigrated into HTML these are definately some of the greatest comix i've ever seen in terms of graphics, story, writings, design, or fun. This guy really goes all out, and it is truely surprising his work appears only in this albiet very well executed online format. If you have any interest in comix, the internet, graphic art, drawing, writing, poetry, social politics, spirituality, technology and/or humor you must check this out. You will not be dissapointed.

- The Maxx Home Page (unofficial)
- The Maxx was one of the greatest comix series ever concieved. The recent MTC cartoon version only scratched the surface. I could expound endlessly on Sam Kieth's awe inspiring gift of creation. Here you will find plot summaries, character discriptions, FAQ's, info on Sam, and the coveted "Maxx Award." Oh yeah, and some of those unable to comprehend comic books being art as well as literature might learn something.

Eyecandy
- bomb index
- Bomb is a visual-musical instrument. It uses alife, and is alife. It runs on your PC and produces animated organic graphics in
response to the keyboard, audio music, or on its own. You can download it from this web site, and run it on your PC. Artistic
and conceptual explanations can be found here and here.
- Mathematically Beautiful Screen Savers (MBSS)
- If you are mathematically inclined and enjoy beautiful screen savers, then you've come to the right place. The
purpose of this site is to provide links to the Most Beautiful Mathematical Screen Savers available on the Internet. In
some cases, you can download the Savers directly. This site does not host Savers of the "bouncing bitmaps" genre,
slide-shows or product-promotion gimmicks. The Savers posted herein are the combined expression of mathematics
and artistry.
- Noah's AcidWarp
- THE CLASSIC:
AcidWarp is software that falls into the category of "eye-candy". AcidWarp generates soft, friendly
pictures on your screen. It selects from over 40 mathematical function to generate each picture pattern.
Once displayed the colors of each picture are animated to produce a flowing and moving picture.
- Ryan Geiss' Realtime Graphics
- GEISS is sound-reactive eye candy for your computer. It comes as both a Windows 95/98
screensaver and as a visualization plugin for Winamp. It can 'hear' your music - and let you SEE your
music.
Geiss generates fluid-motion realtime graphics based on the sound it can hear... that includes audio
CDs, a microphone, or line-in (for the screensaver) or an MP3 file (for the plugin). The graphics
you'll see are a direct response to the music that's playing. And it's free!
- The Official Cthugha Home Page
- And what is Cthugha (pronounced "Kah-Thoo-Gah")? It's a free program available for PC's (running DOS, Windows, or
Linux) and Macintosh's which takes sound input from a CD, stereo, or microphone and displays colorful animated graphics
synced to the sound. Sort of like an oscilloscope, but on LSD.
Cthugha has become a very popular form of visual entertainment, useful for parties, concerts, raves, and other events as well as
just vegging out to mesmerizing, hynotizing displays...
Editors Note: That official type description out of the way let me say this: Cthugha is in my top 5 favorite programs of all
time. I have seen many programs that "respond to the music", I always come back to this program. Cthugha allows you to see
the variations in the music. Changes in instrument, tempo, volume are all available visually. Cthugha allows you to experience
the music in a whole new way that complements the aurreal experience perfectly.
ELGAROO'S NOTE: I totally agree with the editor. Though the resolution might seam crude by todays standards, i have found no new program that even gets near the eerie musical soul of this classic. It doesn't just move to the sound waves, it changes how everything changes and reacts to the mood of the music. U listen to Pink Floyd, it chills out like Pink Floyd. U listen to Nine Inch Nails, it flips into psycho mode. Recomend the original DOS version, none of the new ones seams up to speed yet.
